Online Promotion | Acorn TV Line of Duty trailer, “In Flanders Fields” (TheZoomer)

BBC police anti-corruption procedural Line of Duty sees its fifth series premiere on Acorn TV for American and Canadian SVOD audiences in 2019. Line of Duty’s fourth series premieres on Acorn TV November 26, 2018, with the first three series already available. Line of Duty’s first four series premiered on Hulu in the US, and on Netflix in Canada. Line of Duty is currently still available on Netflix Canada.

Line of Duty’s fifth series streams concurrently with the BBC airing, as Acorn TV competes with Netflix – which has Bodyguard – in the recent Jed Mercurio drama horse race. Given Line of Duty’s BBC ratings and renewal through a sixth series, Acorn TV nails the series down at what could be the height of its run.

Marilyn Lightstone and the Canadian Men’s Chorus performs a song, written by Lightstone and arranged by David Warrack, using John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields” as a base. Warrack (piano), Robert DiVito (trumpet) and Kevin Coady (drums) accompanies Lightstone and the CMC. The clip originally aired as part of VisionTV’s November 5, 2018 episode of theZoomer, its special Remembrance Day edition. Said episode of theZoomer repeats November 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM ET and 11:00 PM ET. The performance honours the hundredth anniversary of the Armistice of 11 November 1918.

Listeners of The New Classical FM’s family of stations heard this rendition of “In Flanders Fields” the day after its performance on theZoomer, as Moses Znaimer’s ZoomerMedia owns both The New Classical FM and VisionTV. Lightstone is the voice of The New Classical FM, and the host of its late-night offering Nocturne. Given the cross-promotion at play here, the video doesn’t come across as exploitive, which is always a back-of-mind issue for media items related to Remembrance Day.
