Comic Book Showosky | Debuts of Note: Axe Cop, Dark Matter

Finally, a valid excuse to use the Comic Book Showosky tag. Axe Cop’s second season premieres on FXX Friday, April 17, 2015 at 12:15 AM ET/PT, after the debut of Major Lazer. Both shows are part of Fox’s Animation Domination High-Definition block, which moved to FXX in January 2015 after its initial attempt to razz [adult swim] on Fox’s broadcast platform in 2013-14. Unfortunately, Rogers Media City and specialties publicist Stephanie Leslie confirmed to Gloryosky on April 16, 2015 that Axe Cop does not air on FXX Canada.

For those not familiar with Axe Cop, he is Axey Smartist. He kills bad guys with an axe. He will chop your head(s) off if you are evil. He also becomes Axe Cop Lemon and Axe Cop Fire on occasion. The television show is based on a webcomic/Dark Horse comic book written and drawn by Ethan Nicolle (age thirty-four), and plotted by Ethan’s brother Malachai Nicolle (age eleven). Axe Cop is an odd duck among adult animated series, but it’s the best show on ADHD’s schedule. The ADHD trailer shows Axe Cop in the middle of a tiger/shark war, as one expects him to be.

Dark Matter, the new series from the Stargate team of Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, debuts Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 PM ET/PT, on SPACE. Dark Matter debuts day-and-date with its American airing on Syfy.

The SPACE airdate was first mentioned on April 16, 2015 by TV, eh?’s Twitter account. SPACE confirmed the airdate to Gloryosky on April 16, 2015. Bell Media’s official press release with more details follows at a later date.

Dark Horse published Dark Matter in 2012, although Dark Matter was meant for television before its initial incarnation as a four-issue series. Dark Matter is about the crew of a derelict spaceship who emerge from stasis with no idea who they are, or what they’re doing on the ship. Below is the IGN trailer for Dark Matter:
