Comic Book Showosky | Young Justice: Outsiders, Titans, DC digital service

As announced April 25, 2017, Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment plans to launch an as-yet-unnamed “direct-to-consumer digital service” in 2018, to be operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group in co-operation with DC Entertainment. Two shows, Young Justice: Outsiders and Titans, are currently attached to this project. Young Justice: Outsiders is the long-awaited third season of Young Justice, while Titans is the Teen Titans adaptation previously floated and passed on by TNT a few years ago. While previously announced, Young Justice: Outsiders wasn’t attached to a channel and/or digital service before April 25, 2017.

The announcement is just to announce Young Justice: Outsiders and Titans as part of the digital service. Whether the DC Entertainment digital service is available in Canada is unknown at this point.

With the April 2017 launch of the Boomerang streaming service in the US, and [adult swim]’s subscription service well-established in Canada, DC Entertainment’s streaming service is a no-brainer. DC Entertainment’s presences on Netflix and CW Seed is an issue DC Entertainment needs to address, yet DC’s television back catalogue is fairly substantial. It would help if the news is something beyond “immersive experience” – again, the news is just to announce two shows and a service’s existence. While superheroes are DC Entertainment’s stock-in-trade, Gloryosky won’t complain about DC Entertainment’s floating westerns, weird tales, and/or weird western tales. DC Entertainment can’t afford to screw its digital service up, no matter the business model.
