First aired as a “special preview” on November 23, 2013, Golan the Insatiable formally debuted January 11, 2014, for six eleven-minute episodes. The series is based on Golan creator Joshua “Worm” Miller’s Something Awful desecrations.
Rob Riggle (Golan the Insatiable) and Aubrey Plaza (Dylan Beekler) star in Golan the Insatiable’s half-hour reincarnation. Miller was Golan’s voice for the Fox ADHD incarnation, while Mary Mack was Dylan. Other new castmembers in the half-hour Golan include Ken Marino and John DiMaggio. Maria Bamford, Rachel Butera and Nick Rutherford carry over from the original cast.
Golan the Insatiable’s ADHD season is decent – different from the other shows in Fox ADHD’s lineup, even though that short first season doesn’t give the show much time to develop. I’m genuinely surprised that Golan the Insatiable is the first show to move from Fox ADHD to Fox primetime. I thought Miller and Mack were good in their roles, so I find the recasting a bid to attach “name” talent. On the flip side, any new animated content on Fox’s Sunday lineup is a good thing. Family Guy and The Simpsons can’t rot on Fox’s schedule forever, no matter how hard the two shows try.
As of April 28, 2015, no Canadian service is attached to Golan the Insatiable.
